The proper solution for a period style house interior is to maintain the integrity of the architecture throughout the project.  A decision to create a French or Italian inspired house means that the inside should reflect the exterior details.

One can elect to adopt an academic classicism or a softer contemporary classical approach to the interiors.  The decision to go 'classical' is the first important step.  If that is your goal then certain architectural criteria follow in order that your interior is convincing.
John Henry creates architectural interiors for the designs of only a select few of his houses.  A tremendous effort is required to keep each space unique, yet integrated to the whole.  All interior and exterior design is drawn by hand alone.  This aids the 'historically correct' effect of the final construction.  After all, how do you try to make a period style design realistic by using computers when the originals were all hand crafted from beginning to end?
